I don't know if many people on this board know it, but njbb's son, Chris McConnell is at Idaho Falls in the Pioneer league and is hitting .340. That is not only good, it is outstanding and he is just a kid who signed out of HS last year playing against many guys who signed out of college.

BBScout - I've actually listened to a couple of Chris' games while chatting in the chat room with NJ and others. He sounds like a player with a great future ahead of him.

It is plenty difficult to bat over .300 anywhere in minor league ball. Congratulations to NJBB and to Chris. applaude Here is a little more information to show what a great season Chris has had.

"Chris McConnell and Ethien Santana have been named 2005 Pioneer League All-Stars in a vote of the league’s managers. McConnell was elected as the league’s shortstop...

McConnell, a 19 year old from Franklinville, NJ, is among the league leaders with a .345 batting average. He also has 4 homeruns, 30 RBI’s, a team leading 14 doubles and 6 stolen bases. His 6 triples are tied for the lead in the league. Earlier in the year, he put together an 18 game hitting streak. He also received votes for the league’s most valuable player. McConnell was drafted in the 9th round of the 2004 draft by the Kansas City Royals organization, after attending Delsea High School." clap

Saw Chris at the Team One showcase at Notre Dame in 2003.

Finest fielding display in pre-game workouts and during the games---I have seen in my lifetime of watching baseball games...Nearly 50 years!

njbb....Why am I not surprised?

I'll probably see Chris in High Desert next year. We host players so he has a place to stay if he wants it.

Congrats to Chris and obviously a very proud njbb ... that is quite a feat with a wood bat and I am especially impressed with all the triples. Sounds as tho Chris can hit hard and run fast ... those triples are very very impressive. applaude
