Hi, I'm currently a sophomore in a high school in Washington State, and am looking forward to starting for the second year on the varsity baseball team there. I am worried that I'm behind everyone else in my area as far as recruiting goes. I need help with some ideas on what to do (contact coaches/schools). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you want to stay in-state for college, you should attend the 'prospect' camps at U-Dub and WSU. Does Dow travel around quite a bit in the summer? Are you guys Legion or Connie Mack?
I would go ahead and type up a VERY well-written (no errors of any kind) letter of interest and send it off with your high school schedule. You are definitely NOT behind the curve. The next two summers (with the one between Junior and Senior being the real key) are primetime.

My son is also a sophomore, and we are Washington residents technically, but live and work overseas. He'll be joining a Seattle-Area 18U for this summer season and they have a nice schedule with some well-attended (so I've heard anyway) tournaments. I think you guys are in Bellevue area, right??

Anyway, I'm sure others will chime in here with solid advice. Good luck!

Krakatoa,
I've attended a hitting clinic with UW and it was pretty informative, but have not even been to Pullman before, which is a surprise with how much I've seen of Washington. I don't really want to stay in state for college becuase of the weather, but it's much less expense to stay here.
What would the letter that I'd send say? Information on me, stats, etc.? I've e-mailed almost every D1 college in the nation about drills that they could send me but supposedly it's against NCAA rules.
Dow is actually out of Redmond but I live in Everett. Which Seattle team will he be playing for?

Read over this site. It has plenty of examples on what to write in a letter.

If you want to go to college out of state then your best chance is to play out of state. While there are quite a few programs that recruit out of WA your best exposure is play in out of state showcases or tournaments.
