I just wanted to hear what others had to say about the Seattle A's....Ranked 3rd in state pre-season behind Poulsbo RV and #1 Taylor....The A's recently won the Crusher Memorial Tournament in mashing fashion.... Beating Taylor convincingly twice...Who should be the best summer team this year? It should be a good year..would love to hear insight from y'all...

The A's are definately better than both Poulsbo and Taylor. I dont think Poulsbo looked that tough in this last tournament. You have to remember the A's won this tournament without the bats of Brian Yates (still in state), Aaron Levinson (post concussion syndrome) and JT Zink (ankle injury). When they get all their bats, and arms back and healthy they will be deep enough to beat anybody. As for Taylor, they are very competitive, and should pave a trail of their own this season. They have good bats and good pitching. We will just have to see what kind of matchups these two teams go through in tournaments to come.

the seattle a's arent that good... just because they have wagner, zink, and yates doesnt mean anything, they are all still human and dont deserve the praise that they get, they went 2-2 without some of their starters, but if they truly were deep, they would be able to start out 4-0 without problems, it just shows that they aren't THAT great, just an above average select team with some good players.... that's all, wilkenson will be good, taylor, poulsbo, and i think that the maronis club will surprise some teams, they're a little bit under-rated from what ive heard... but that's all talk right now, give all the teams a little bit to get goin' and we'll see where everyone stands.

First of all... Maroni's is terrible. They will get killed by Taylor, Wilkinson, A's and anybody else who plays them. Give me one name of Maroni's that anybody knows. I watched the two A's games they lost. THey were missing 6 starters in both games and there 16 and 2 17 year olds were playing. 16 year olds.... NOw for taylor and wilk. They will be strong but i see the A's taking out anybody in state. by the way mjrasmsk.. who do you play for? I bet they dont beat the A's

Chaffey hasn't been competitive for some time. They will not play the better teams for the most part. It is a revenue maker not a ball club.

We played Chaffey this afternoon. They do not have the strength of teams like Taylor or the A's, but do have a couple of good players in the Boyer brothers. Billy hit two opposite field home runs for 4 RBI's, but they still lost the game 9-7. He is signed with UW.

They do not have the A's, Taylor, Wilkinson, or Poulsbo RV on their schedule this summer.

The Seattle A's have the best 1-2 punch of any team in the state with Wagner (Vanderbilt) and Zink (deciding between Nebraska and San Diego State). There infield is anchored by the best SS in the state Chad Shroeder (Oregon State) follwed by Bryan Yates (Clemson) and Aaron Levinson (played at Mesa CC this season) Which goes to the 1b Howard Sanders (Edmonds CC) in the 6 or 7 hole in the lineup. There OF is as solid as it gets with the LF Jeff Shomaker ( Boston College) Brian Jackson ( Columbia Basin CC) and Zink in RF when not pitching. All in all this is one of the better HS select teams ever assembled in Washington's history and should compete for a National Championship, will they...thats why they play the game but talent wise they are built to do it. I also heard that Brian Pugmire another low 90's guy is going to play with them once hes back to 100 percent from Tommy John. This team is very aggressive and for the most part has the green light on the bases so watch out for a lot of runs when you come to play the Seattle A's.

We've beaten Bank; we've beaten Chaffey; Chaffey's beaten us, Poulsbo's beaten us, we've beaten Poulsbo . . .

Any single game doesn't mean much. We had a nice one tonight against Wilkinson, with the Krushers' Emmett getting 10 or 11 strikeouts and shutting them out. Next time we meet, who knows?

That's what makes it interesting.

Starzz,

How is Jordan doing at JO? What team is he with? I don't think I saw ABD in the standings.I have two friends kids playing with a club out of San Francisco,Star Maker (they have 2 clubs there, these kids are on the younger , but more successful one)We got an invite to joinn the club , but the timing was way too late.We are imersed in summerball, and I spent a delightful afternoon catching up on things with Harbormom the other Sunday. Her sons' team came from behind and beat us,but it was a great time.We attended a Baseball Northwest showcase type event Wednesday afternoon with a 2004 event in the morning and the 2005 in the afternoon. It was a must attend for the older kids, many scouts and local college coaches in attendance. They all disappeared for our event except for the Orioles scout(helping with the timing portion) and the Mariners scout looking for possible Area Code invitees.Alex did well and filled out a card for the Mariners.I am trying to get all my ducks in a row for the back to back 15 and 16 year old CABA tourneys as this should bankrupt me till Vegas.
Send info on Jordan and his team and I will follow him on the USA website.

Till then.

highland- chaffey won the reno tourney last year
in june and came in 12th in san diego getting eliminated in extra innings by the team that won the tourney. chaffey plays 35 games in may-june
and then enters the same tourney's everyone does.
my son played for chaffey last year and the players fee was $700.00. that pays
for 12 days in san diego and a week in reno as
well as 30 home games at husky stadium. even a bonehead like u should be able to do the math
and figure out herb chaffey is a very successful
business person who hardly needs players fees to
make money. i have never seen people more dedicated to helping kids as herb chaffey and jim
stewart. just goes to show sometimes u think
you're smart opening your trap but you're actually
showing how dumb u r.

p.s. there were 18 washington teams in san diego
and chaffey had the second highest finish

bbbbbbb

well you just showed what a dumb s*** you are.

All you have to do is look a Chaffey's schedule and you will see it is stacked with second tier teams. They do not schedule quality teams and only face them if they have to in a tournament. By the way the top teams from WA and CA did not play in the SD tournament, they went to the Carlsbad Tounament. So your statement is meaningless.

Highandinside-
I don't understand why you seem to hold a grudge against Chaffey. The instruction is great, the coaches are positive, and my son, who is new to the team this year, said he learned more in a couple weeks than he learned in several years of high school or from his prior American Legion coaches. Learning with a bunch of great kids and coaches is what it's all about. The price is cheap compared to BaseballNorthwest trips to Las Vegas or Tucson, by the way.

I do not have a problem with Chaffey per se.
The problem is they used to be the premier select team and the are no longer in that category. The best teams want to face the best competition, and they are not willing to do that. So to hold them in high estem is not correct. Play the best be the best.

Well Highandinside, I'm calling you out. Chaffey finally played one of your teams. They played Taylor Baseball in the third place game of the Brandy Pugh tournament. Chaffey won the game 7-6.

You just don't get it, do you.

You said it not me, "they finally played one of your team."

What I said was they will not SCHEDULE a game with quality teams. Getting lucky in a tournament proves nothing, it is beating quality teams every week that means something.
