They signed a lot of high profile out of state guys.

Mike Wesner is my son's teammate. Prototypical first baseman: 6'3 lefty with a great bat, and who is an absolute hoover at first. He's been on my son's football and baseball teams for years. He was also just named to the Three Rivers League all-conference first team in football, both on offense and defense.

Terrific athlete who had something of a breakout year in baseball last summer. Great family, too. I am thrilled for him because OSU was the only place he wanted to go.

That is cool. It doesn't look like he was on BBNW's list of top 60 before this summer. It's nice he got noticed and was able to sign with the early group.

Yes, he wasn't on anyone's radar screen because he never did anything to get noticed (such as showcases or BBNW events.)

Then he plays in the NW Championships and goes on a tear, hit a couple balls to the wall at PGE Park and has a great tourney, named MVP.

THAT raised a lot of eyebrows! All of a sudden college coaches were all saying "why didn't we know about this kid??"

Incidentally, last night Mike had a touchdown catch and a key interception at the 5 yard line in our playoff win over Canby.
