I thought it was interesting at least for the class of 2007 only 2 guys on the Sparq top 20 made it on the All Tournament Team.

JDsDad:
Congrats on Jonathan making the all tournament team. I wish I could have caught one of the games.

Thanks Rob, he definitely didn't make the team because of his Sparq rating. He scored ten points lower then he did a month earlier at OSU. It was'nt because of his hitting either. He went Ofer Eek But he hit the ball hard everytime and put it in play. The only time he struck out was looking on a fastball the catcher completely missed. Some of the umps were a little questionable. He made several nice plays in the field though.

There was a pitcher from Utah they faced twice, Adam Duke, that Mckay told me was throwing 86,87. His older brother made the US Junior Olympic team. I think we'll be hearing more things about Adam. He was pretty impressive.

Do you happen to remember playing Ben Ruff 09 WA SW?
He played third and pitched. He's a good friend of Jonathan's. He's a stud.

Did Jeff get an invite to the fall scout team?

That's why the SPARQ really doesn't do anything for baseball. Just because you can run and jump doesn't mean you can hit and throw.

JDsDad,

Kudos to your son for making the All-Tournament team. My son was on the 2008 E. Wash team that got beat in the championship. He pitched well, pitched a complete game 4-2 win but did not make the tournament team.

Some of the choices for the tournament team were curious. Our 3rd baseman made several errors but made it (no names), and our short stop Jarek Cunningham did not but had a great series..he definitely had the scouts talking!

This is no knock on BBNW..they did a good job and it was a great tournament. I've picked an allstar squad before, and I can tell you it is not easy and bruised egos abound. Good players who didn't make it shouldn't let it bother them.. they should shake the hand of those that did and work twice as hard for next year!
