Unfortunately, the boy decided he really needed to rest the arm. He's taken a month off, as of November, but is just back throwing. Don't think he'll be ready to throw even in a camp environment. Let us know how it is!

Seadog,

Alex will be at the catchers camp in the morning, I do not know if it will spill into yours, I will look for you there.

Alex went to a Husky camp when he was 10 and from then he has been on their mailing list for all of their camps. His high school coach also thought it might help him in the recruiting process if he was seen by their coaching staff. The coach had a kid helped by attending a Husky camp and being noticed by them, became a recruited walk on.

Seadog and Catchersdad

How were the UW camps? Kevin went last year and enjoyed the catcher's camp, although there were a lot of players there. He really liked the video analysis they did.

Gang,

The camp in the mornig went well. The indoor facility was awesome and I can imagine the fights to get time in there. There were about 33 catchers there of various skill levels. There was no video taken that I saw , but there was a lot of attention by the coaches and players to the kids during the drills.I felt that the coaches were very accessible, but I think I dropped the ball on getting any real sense of where my son possibly stood in their view as a possible recruit.I let my son do all the talking and just hung back with my wife and took in the sites.
I think I will start to be a little more proactive in my job of meeting and getting to know the staff of every baseball school we visit.I know that I have a lot of connections in the baseball area and have let them kind of lead me to the head guys with a very nice seamless introduction. When it comes to a cold intro, I have much work to do in that arena.
My thought is to kind of start a thread on accessible coaches so that parents can know they can chat with them tactfully during that ackward time between Junior and senior year.
