At long last, the MurrayHill Little League won the NW Regional and is going to Williamsport.
They actually won the game by getting away with a baserunning mistake. In the 6th inning, down by one, the runner on second took third on a bad throw in from the outfield. He was going to be out but the third baseman couldn't pull down the throw. Next batter the runner scored on a passed ball to tie the game. They won in the 7th on a bases loaded two out full count walk, on a very close pitch.
It was a pretty exciting game.
MurrayHill Little League is our LL's arch-rival. Nearly every year we meet them in the district finals, and most years MH wins, and goes on to win state.
I think it has been 5 out of the last 7 years we have met MH in the district final, MH won 4 of them.
Needless to say, my son (whose all-star team lost to MH in 2003 in the finals) was rooting against them last night!
But I, being more mature, tried hard to pull for them. I won't reveal whether or not I was successful!
MH's lefty looked solid on the mound. Alaska had some big boy's on there team. Congrat's to Oregon. Look forward to seeing them in Williamsport. It should be Fun. EH
