So, in case you were wondering, lightning does strike twice; Kevin took another ball in the nose today, and not only broke the nose (again) but also fractured the facial bones on both sides of the nose that hold his canine teeth. I can't believe this! Looks like his summer season is over; we're just hoping he heals quickly so he can get out for college ball next month. I feel so sorry for him right now, but at least there is nothing permanently damaged. I'm feeling pretty bad for the other catcher on his team, too: he had to catch both games of a doubleheader today in 95+ heat.

I think they're okay, although he was complaining they hurt a bit; he goes in to the ENT doctor Monday. I had to smile a little, despite it all: last month he ruined a pair of new batting gloves when he got hit, so this time he said he made sure to take the new gloves off and toss them aside before his nose started gushing! Nothing like a baseball player who keeps his head when he's under pressure. Eek

There's something that boy must not understand about getting out of the way of a fastball! We wish Alex the best at Area Code and we're glad we got to see him and you again before we left. In between packing and cancelling California reservations, I'm checking out Arizona RV parks with WIFI so we can stay in touch with the HSBBW!

Harbormom...long time since we talked...Our best wishes from Nevada to Kevin for a speedy recovery. Is he going to AZ to Play? Where? Several from LV are going to AZ schools. Mine has 1 more year and he hopes to make a decision next week.

Not AGAIN!
Poor Kevin....were you there this time? Did you nearly faint? I wonder if they will pick up another catcher for San Diego? It will be hard on B.S. if not. We probably won't see you before you leave then....have a safe trip and let us know when you're settled and how 'KO's' doing Smile

Starzz, thanks for your good wishes. He's headed to Eastern Arizona JC, reporting August 19. I hope he's healed up thoroughly by then! Hope your son has a great senior year.

Colleen, yes AGAIN. I was there and heard the crack when the ball hit him, but didn't react much, simply because I couldn't believe he was really hurt again. My heart dropped into my shoes when I realized we were reliving last month and headed for the hospital once more.

PRV is trying to get another catcher so poor Brandon gets a rest now and then. Kevin may make the trip to California with the team; Craig says he can fly him home early if he needs to get back for a doctor's checkup. On the plus side, we came from behind in the Prep National championship game today to beat Olympia 16-8 and win the tournament. That was the last game we will see this summer; hard to believe it's over. We'll let you know how fall ball goes! Cool
