There are many opportunities if an when you are selected. Like catchersdad says, the whole point of the organization is to be seen by area scouts.

The first step in the process is the tryout. From there, you may receive an invite to the Prospect Games from your area. Depending upon your performance at the Prospect Games, you may receive an invite to the Pacific Northwest Championships in August.

From there, you may receive an invite to the Fall Scout team and the Jr./Sr. Fall Classic in Peoria, AZ in October. All of these events cost good money, but it is worth it because the events are well-run, Sparq testing is done at the PNW Championships, and scouts are everywhere.

As for money, I believe tryouts are about $ 20, Prospect Games about $100, PNW Championship about $300, scout team about $250, and Peoria tournament about $650. This is the price you pay for first-class facilities, premier competition and well-scouted events. If you are a top player, it is well worth it. My own son has received a lot of contact because of these events.

If you pay $20 for the tryout they refund that toward the $95 for the prospect games. I think we paid $125 for the pnw championships last year. Well worth it.

Great info...thanks!!!

I guess if you weigh it against a $250 bat...its seems very reasonable...

Thanks again Smile

My son played and went to Pasco, Peoria and Jupiter last fall. Hit bombs in all three places, caught and played 3b.

No visibility before due to small school, since then one Pac10 offer Arizona and one from UCIrvine. Four freshman catchers at UA. Committed to very good CC. See what the summer brings.

Jeff Mckay is gracious and honest and helps kids. Tells Dads when they're off base too. Can't get much better than that in this world.

His events are very well attended and run better than the PG events.

Yes, I've heard parents with a lot of money complain that Jeff McKay won't put their kids on the list and then I hear people say that he's just in it for the money and I have to put my two cents in. Jeff has done a lot for baseball in the Northwest, period.

BBNW has done tremendous things for my son. Not only the exposure, but the opportunities created to play an excellent Fall schedule. Running a program with integrity takes integrity, and Jeff McKay and crew have that.

It's a good program. Just keep in mind that the only way to get on the list is to pay. It's far from the most reliable list. It misses a lot of the better talent in Oregon.

Jeff is all about the money. If you don't believe me, ask the guys who coach the teams. Do they get paid? How many times do they have to ask for their payment? How often do umpires show up for games? Baseballs? Bases? Players?

It's a great idea and can be the best exposure if done correctly. It's not as organized as it should be. Also, rarely are the number of scouts and coaches in the stands comparable to what Jeff tells everybody it is.

I think its a great program, but parents needs to know the negatives as well as the positives.

Way off base to say they run better than PG....WAY off. When we did a BBNW event last year, it was very disappointing to see the three main guys, after about the 3rd or 4th inning, sitting in chairs over by the dugout while the action was going on on the field, socializing....rarely in the second half of the event did they even look up at what was happening on the field. New guys would go into the field or take the mound and these guys just kept chatting away, almost mindless that there was a game going on where players were out there trying to show their stuff.....and nobody watching after half-way.

have been to several PG events, all around the country, and they were by FAR better run.....at least the guys that were running the show stayed INVOLVED for the duration!!

Them's my two bits!!

Krak,

That has not been my experience with BBNW. Are you talking about the Prospect Games or the Pacific Northwest Championships? Each and every time my son was on the mound he was attentatively watched.

This was Prospect Games. Everyone's experience will be different on any given day and at any given location. This was MY experience, on this day, as well as the experience of at least the 20+ others seated in our section of the bleacehrs who first drew my attention to the fact that these guys appeared to be 'checked out' in the lattter half of the game. I hadn't even noticed, was just enjoying the game....until I heard the rumblings building behind me...and it's true, on this day, at this event, the guys seemed to have other things on their minds after the third or fourth inning.

Krak,

I would highly recommend you give BBNW another chance. Hopefully, that was an aberration. If T goes to the Pacific Northwest Championships this year I can tell you there will be a tremendous number of scouts present.. this is the year of early commitments! Also, R played on the E. WA Fall Scout Team and they go to the Senior Fall Classic.. another huge event with tons of scouts.

I'd love to do another Perfect Game event, as R has added a lot more velocity and muscle mass and with the contact he has received I know his score should be higher than what they show. I wish they had something early August or late August on the West Coast. Anyway, see you at Stanford!

We are always back in Korea by the time these events roll around.

Our other venues and avenues have been plenty fruitful, so no worries.

Yes, looking forward to Stanford and summer ball/travel tourneys.....
