We ended up playing 5 games at multiple sites (my son was on the '08 E. Wash team). There was some fielding and BP before each game, but that's about it. The kids on that team were all top players, so I don't think training them was the goal, but rather to showcase them. The older kids participated in SPARQ testing on day one. There was a very informative seminar attended by college coaches and Mr. McKay, as well as a few pro scouts. They explained the recruitment process, went over the pros and cons of "pro vs. college", and there was a question and answer session for the parents.. (draw up your questions ahead of time.) Good luck, and I hope your kid makes the team. I'm also hoping my kid makes this year's team as well (you need to qualify each year by attending the Prospect Games).. the Prospect Game roster is currently pretty stacked, so we'll see.. but I hope as a LHP and BBNW roster veteran his chances are good. He's also going to the Junior Olympics in Arizona at the end of this month, so I'll give you a report on that later if you want. BBNW's PNW Championships is definitely an event you want your son to attend. First class and a real eye-opener as to the talent that's out there.

Montanadad, did they send you a schedule of events after they rec'd your registration? From what it looks like on the schedule (for the 08s and 09s of NW WA, anyway), the workout of course comes first, and then 'game' is listed as singular -- and timewise, would have to be, as the '09 session starts up just two hours after the listed game time. Perhaps the '07s, who have their own day, get to play more games? Does anyone know how many innings a Prospect Games pitcher will throw? One or two? My son is slated to take the hill for his summer team that evening.....should be okay, but just curious....

My son threw to 4 batters only. He struck out all four and got the job! The Prospect Games did include an infield/outfield routine, running times, etc. If I recall it was just one game played. Good luck.

Nice update.. Just got back from the Prospect Games, son threw to 4 batters, 2k's, one F7 and a triple (no runs scored).. all on one day rest after pitching 99 pitches in a tournament championship he won, 6-1 (3 hits 10k's, 1 BB). He also was 2-0 in the Junior Olympics in Arizona, with only one unearned run given up in 11.7 IP. Hopefully, that'll seal the deal for a PNW Championship roster spot.. we'll see. He was 1-0 for BBNW in last year's PNW Championship in Tacoma. Will update later. How did you'all do?

Krak.. Yes, call Jeff and soon. His job is to assemble talent, regardless of how your son performed at the Prospect Games. Tell him about the real ability of your son. In fact, many kids on the Pacific Northwest Championship roster didn't even attend the Prospect Games, but they're good players. Good luck
