On June 20th, the EDH Vipers, an 18/19u travel team based out of El Dorado Hills (Sacramento area) will be making a 10 games in 7 days road trip to Oregon. Our first stop will be in Eugene, to play a double header vs. the Eugene Challengers. After that, we play the Gresham Mountaineers followed by Mt. Hood College before we begin play in the Rose City Invitational. In the Rose City Invitational, we play against the Seattle Bombers, Vancouver Cardinals and Ryder-Showtime. Once the tournament is over we'll play the Northwest Star college team and then head off to Bend. We play the Bend Bucks on the 26th and then head back home.

I understand that these are pretty good teams and we're looking forward to playing some good baseball with them. Can anyone tell me any details about these clubs? We've never played against any of them before. We're definitelty looking forward to these games. www.edhvipers.org

The NW Star team is a new team - one of my son's HS teammates is playing on it along with a few other graduating seniors from around the metro area.

What's the date and time of your game with them? Maybe I'll come watch and say hi.

Hi, I just watched the Seattle Bombers today. Our 18u Spokane Dodgers (my son's on the 17u team) beat them in the Eastside Memorial Day Classic for the championship. The Bombers have solid pitching and defense.. pretty good. We also played the Washington Warriors.. not great pitchers but they can mash. Haven't seen the rest. Good luck.

It's the Seattle Stars you'd have to look out for. That team is stacked as high as a Burger King Quad-Stacker. Eek

06Catcherdad;

Dan; it will be good for you to return to the ball field in three weeks. Maybe you can select a team to travel next December to Australia.

We have a schedule prepared for a 'senior' team to play in Adelaide and Perth with the State and Pro Teams of New South Wales and South Australia.

Thanks for the information on the NW Star team and Bombers. We're looking forward to playing them both. We'll be playing in the tournament on June 22-24, and won't play NW Star unless its in the playoffs. You never know, but we'd like to compete with them.

Krakatoa, we love playing the Seattle Stars. We've played them before and would love to play them again, but there's no time on this trip. They're one of the better Washington teams we've faced over the years. We are doing a home and home with the Bend Elks/Bucks; and I'd love to do the same next year with the Stars if they ever come down this way.

Bob, We need to talk. I have new contact numbers with the new business, so I'll call you later this week. I'd love to discuss being "team mom" for another baseball trip down under. I'm sure we could round up high quality talent to play the Aussies. I know of some college players that would relish the opportunity to go back and play there again.

Regarding summer ball, we don't have three weeks to wait to play, we actually played in a northern CA tournament over the holiday weekend just ended. We played teams from Sacramento, Fairfield, Watsonville and Benicia. It is very good to be back playing summer ball again, and we have 50+ games remaining on our schedule between now and early August when we finish with the Summer Series in San Diego. This Oregon trip will be one of our highlights for the summer, and a trip we hope can become a regular part of our schedule. By the time we leave for Oregon, we'll have about 15 games under our belts (and I hope my '07s have all their Sr. trips out of the way by then.)

06catcherdad,
Will you be at the USABF world series in San Diego? We are going to be there and it would be cool if I could meet you.

Dow, No, unfortunately that isn't the week that we are going to be playing in San Diego. We'll be there the previous week, playing in the West Coast Summer Series. We've never played in the USABF tournament, but really like the Summer Series a lot so we're sticking with that one. This year we're going back as defending champions so that'll be a neat experience for the boys, to see if they can repeat. It'll be tough as there are 28 teams and most of them are pretty darned good, but its going to be interesting and fun no matter how it turns out.

Good luck with USABF, I would like to meet you and any of the other HSBBW parents out there, don't hesitate to drop by and say hello if you're ever at one of our games. I'm the middle aged, overweight coach with a graying goatee. I'm easy to pick out, everyone else is younger and more fit (and better looking too Eek)

06catcherdad,

Is there a website for the Summer series? I'd like to see the teams involved.

Our Spokane Dodgers 17u team got a few lumps in its first tournament but "R" won the first game of this weekend's tournament against the Columbia Riverdogs.. and our team pounded the ball. Who's heading for Pullman?

We "may" be doing the Apple Cup in Wenatchee...it's on one schedule we have, but not the other one we have.....so it's a bit of a mystery.....but no Pullman. We are doing the Bandit Bash in Kennewick, though.
