I may be moving to Portland in the near future. I have a 16 year-old, left-handed pitcher who will need a good high school program and a summer/fall team. Of course a quality education is #1.

How are the high school coaches in the area? I'm tired of have to watch my son participate in a program that is just filler waiting for football season to begin.

He made the varsity this year as a sophomore. He hasn’t gotten a great deal of mound time but has performed when he has. He has a lot of potential so we want a coach who really cares and develops his players.

obrady,

You may want to check with Jeff McKay at Baseball Northwest. He is very knowledgeable about all of the Northwest.

My suggestion would be to go to a program like Westview or Lake Oswego that has been very successful in developing prospects. I would also suggest Lincoln HS if you are looking for the Portland metro area. Their head coach recently retired from the minor leagues and has a great pitching background. Email me if you have specific questions about specific programs. I know a lot about who and what is happening in Portland baseball.

You might check out Grant High in Portland. They have one kid pitching in the pros and 6 currently playing in college at various levels and 3 college prospects on their roster now.
