The Cincinnati Reds Baseball Club will hold an open tryout camp on June 12, 2006 at USC-Aiken (Aiken, SC . Registeration starts at 5PM and the tryout camp starts at 6pm.
DIRECTIONS:
Take I-20 to Exit 18 (the first Aiken exit, Highway 19). Turn right onto Highway 19 South and
go 4.4 miles to the second traffic light at the intersection of Highways 19 and 118. Turn right onto
Highway 118, or University Parkway. Follow Highway 118 for 3.3 miles (you will go through 1 traffic light).
At the second traffic light, turn left onto Trolleyline Road. At the first road, turn right onto the USCA campus.



Players must be between the ages of 16 and 22, and must supply their own glove, shoes, protective cup and uniform; all other equipment will be provided by the Reds. Catchers may be more comfortable in their own gear. Do not attend a camp to participate in shorts or jeans. All non-pitchers will field and throw from their positions and be timed in the 60-yard run. Pitchers will throw a bullpen session.
There is no charge for the workout.
Time: Registration times are noted after each set of Camp Listings.
Legion Players: All Legion players must bring written permission from the Post Commander or Legion Coach to work out.
Under 21: Any player who is younger than 21 years of age must have a written release from a parent or legal guardian accepting full legal liability in order to workout - NO EXCEPTIONS. This must be a release of liability, not just a permission slip to participate.

no hitting at the camp? noticed it mentioned fielding, throwing, and fielding for fielders but made no mention of hitting.

do big league clubs actually sign many guys out of these workouts?

yes there will be hitting there, bp and game hitting.

MLB team do sign players out of tryout camp provided people who actually have talent attend.

Just look at American Idol, how bad some people are that audition. The same thing happens at some tryout camps.
