CASon just participated in his first showcase. The pitchers throw a few innings apiece, so it seems that their evaluations are relatively straightforward, although CASon's team had a pitcher who was "only" working 81-82 but was a very good pitcher. I think CASon's evaluation will be fairly straightforward and I noted another pitcher there who threw with a similar mix of velocities so we'll have someone to compare his results to.
The position players have to be a bit harder to evaluate as they all face different pitchers and some may face a 90+ guy while another may not get the chance to show what they can do against that type of pitcher. I know I saw at least one kid who I know is a very good hitter who didn't hit that well during the showcase, although he did show decent power. I heard that he hit well in BP. It will be interesting to see how he's rated. He's a young guy who'll have plenty more chances to show what he can do but it'll be interesting to see if the scouts pick up on his strengths and how that plays against his one obvious weak area.
