We don't have very many members on this site from Minnesota, and I think that the majority of Minnesota baseball families have never have attended a showcase and may not know they exist.

Still, I like to check out the reports from showcases and see how many local boys attended, and how they did. I was delighted to check out Perfect Game's Pitcher/Catcher indoor showcase (Feb. 9-10), and see a few MN pitchers who look to have very bright futures in baseball! I hope no one minds if I brag them up a bit:

http://www.perfectgame.org/players/?tn=532

Madison Boer 2008 RHP 6'4" 220 lbs
87-89 mph FB with several other good pitches, rated a 9

Cordell Greene 2008 RHP 6'5" 170 lbs
88 mph with lots of room for development with that thin frame, also rated a 9

Chase Hentges 2008 RHP 6'5" 200 lbs
92 mph FB with lots of projection, rated a 10

I realize that 88 to 92 mph high school pitchers are more common in other states. But I'm happy to see some northern boys obviously staying in shape during our snow-covered, below-zero winters, and going where they can be seen.

I don't think that type of pitcher is "common" in any state. There are about 167 2008 pitchers with a 9.0 or better rating in the country. That comes out to about 3 per state. I'd say that puts Minnesota ahead of most states and way ahead of most states on a per capita basis.

Julie, that's awesome and I agree, they are NOT common players.

I'll bet they get lots of attention! What better way to do it than at a PG event!
