Hello everyone. Once again your phones are ringing and guess who is there? Steve Bort, telling you that great baseball players played for him at Caba. We most unfortunatelly went this past weekend to his "tryout".No scouts from Colleges were there, as promised by him, only the assistant coach of SCC was there, a UCF assistant coach was there, whom left really early, and a high school coach was there too. Mr.Bort was not there and the exused was, that his plain was delayed due to weather conditions. He called several times, he took my money and I never got to meet him, or see him in the field. This try out or showcase is not worth a penny and he charges $200.00 ( not even a shirt for it) If you received a call from him DO NOT GO. Don't waste your money

There was a thread a few months ago in the Illinois Forum talking about Bort and how he was supposedly having tryouts for his Bergen Beach team at some ungodly amount of money. There were a number of people that ripped on him for not providing a worthwhile event. The only person that stood up for him is a longtime HSBBW troll and scumbag that reappears every few months under a new psuedonym.
Expect that this adventure is going to be difficult. It is going to be hard. And expect to win.

My son got this call last night, a year after yours. I got the e-mail this morning. I immediately did a search on this site and found this information. I thought this was a quiet period for NCAA anyway so no college coaches could attend events off their campus unless they are paid instructors. I don't remember the exact dates but I think it is still a quiet period. I'm assuming this would include "recruiters" from colleges. Anyway, I'm glad this site exists. I've found a lot of helpful information.
