I am thinking of sending my son who is now a junior to this Headfirst showcase in Fla. Does anyone know if it is worth the price?

Do a search on Headfirst and you can see others comments on the showcase. It is generally regarded as the finest for high academic achievers. Most comments are on the summer showcase(s) not sure about the fall one. Acutally thinking about it now, you need to check the NCAA calendar, I think this is in the quite period.

What does NCAA "quiet period" mean and why is it important to know?

Thanks!

The quiet period starts immediately after the Headfirst Showcase. I would definitely recommend going to this event if your son has very high grades and has not yet been recruited. Brendan Sullivan runs a first class event. My son was recruited by and has verbally committed to an Ivy out of the Richmond showcase this summer. He had more interest from the Headfirst event than anything else we have ever done.

It is probably more important to ask yourself what type of school is my child going to be qualified/want to attend when deciding between these 2 events. If he is looking at top acedemic schools there is probably no better place than Headfirst. The summer sessions in the Richmond area are better attended, but if finances are not an issue, the upcoming showcase can get a junior's feet wet. If you son is capable of being ranked 8 or better, perfect game may be the right choice. They are probably the most respected scouting service out there. If he can do both, congradulations -- you will have plenty of options.

If your son is interested in highly selective schools, I would recommend Headfirst. If he has a good showing the Fall session will get him on the radar and hopefully start the conversation with some of these coaches. Here is a list of coaches that will attend the fall event. Headfirst V Expected Coaches Not as many as the summer events but still an impressive list.
