I have read the previous threads on them. It seems like they are pretty well run. Our son was invited to play this summer and wanted to know if anyone has had personal experience with them. He was pretty excited when he found out that one of the Monarch's coaches recommended him. They saw him at a camp that he did this winter. He would love to be on that team just like everyother ball player from MD. LOL. Anyway just looking for info on them.

Okay I have done some more research. It looks like his "invite" was not as big as a deal as he thought it was. He was "invited" to the mid-atlantic one that you really don't need a invite for. Am I understanding that correctly?

Sue54,

Just wanted to respond on TPX TOP96 and our experience with them. Our son attended the Lowell Mass Showcase his Soph & Jr. summers and very much enjoyed the experience. This was a great place to get started and many other opportunities came from it. One of my players on our High School team attended their showcase in Conn as a Soph and has received some good responce so far. As for their other showcases I can not say as we have not been envolved with them as of yet. Best of luck!

bballnh,
Thank you for your response.
We have decided to go ahead and sign him up. It does still look good to us and it is local so that is a big plus to our pocketbook. He also is trying to get into a PG Showcase for earlier in the summer. College Select looks good to but not sure if the dates will work with his schedule so we will have to wait until they are posted. It is his Junior summer so he wants as much exposure as possible. Though I worry about burnout so I am trying to limit him.

I would like to hear from anyone else though if you have any info to share. You all have been real helpful with this process. There is really alot of wealth of information here that you cannot get anywhere else.

Sue54,
Has your son went to college camps that he is interested in.
Make time for those camps before the early signing period if possible. They love to see prospects in person.
They run there camps alot like a showcase, with area scouts that help out looking for talent.
PG is also something he should try to attend.
It sounds like he has already showed somebody he has some talent. Good Luck to your Son. The EH

theEH,
So far the only College camp that he has done was Elon. It was a very positive experience for him. He plans to do that again if not decided on a School by Thanksgiving of next year.

my son attended two. the colleges that attend are for the most part from the region where it is held. you can check their website to see which schools attended which showcases last year, but as you will find out, that is not definitive of the attendees from year to year.
their mass showcase is their best attended showcase, and if you can gain acceptance to that one, it might be worth the travel money. good luck.

Don't need an invite to T-96.
Bring $$$.

It's at BernieDome (ie Arundel HS), for the 1st time.

Not any raving reviews (from Colleges)
when at Cabin John Regional in Bethesda in Aug of 2005.

I emailed the TOP96 because their showcases look different than in the past when my sons attended. This year all their events, except the NE Lowell event, have college coaches who have signed up in advance to attend. This way the athletes know in advance which colleges have committed (in writing I'm told) to attend which showcase. The coaches will be on the field (except in Lowell) with the players. THey also provide evaluation as to what level college baseball they'd recommend for the athlete. The TOP96 invited colleges from all levels because they feel most h.s. players feel they are DIV I but facts prove differently. They respond quickly to emails so if you have questions, just email them!
