My son attended a SelectFest showcase this past weekend in New Jersey. Seemed like a very nice event.
My question is, does SelectFest publish the information gathered (60 times, throwing velocity, etc.) and/or write a synopsis about each attendee?

Was your son recommended by a hs coach or a summer league coach? Is he a 2010 or 2011? Did it live up to expectations in terms of # of scouts etc.

One more question - why would selectfest be held before July 1?

He was recommended by his travel coach. He is a 2010.

The event was very well attended by scouts. Not sure how many but they were everywhere you looked. The selectfest website has a list of scouts and recruiters from 2007 and 2008. I would guess it was at least that this year.

Showcases are held throughout the year. The July 1 date has no bearing on college recruiters seeing kids. They are watching and contacting kids throughout their high school years.

It would seem to me that is better to be seen before actual phone contact can begin. Maybe catch a recruiters eye before he contacts someone else after July 1.

Is there a limit on where players can come from to play in the select fest showcase? Is it only people from east or could anyone who is invited do it?

I don't see why it would be limited to only kids from the Northeast. It seems a recommendation from a HS or travel coach helps a player get in.
