Does anyone have any experience with the TCU Showcase Camps. Do many Junior College Coaches and/or Scouts attend.

Sorry for the delayed reply. I'm a new participant in this forum. My son participated in TCU's November 2005 2-day showcase as a sophomore and had a very positive experience. There were about a dozen coaches there from other schools (smaller D1's such as UT-Arlington and Univ. of Houston, D2's like A&M - Kingsville, D3's/NAIA like Northwood University, and probably some JUCO's there as well. Coach Schlossnagle (TCU's head coach) gave a very informative 45-minute talk to players and parents about the recruiting process and each player was given a helpful evaluation form at the end ranking various skills from 1-5 with accompanying comments. My son plans to attend again this year.

My son has been to three TCU camps, 2 in August and 1 in November. IMO there are way too many kids attending the August camp. However, there are a lot of coaches who do attend the camp. It is good experience to go through that kind of camp and to get that evaluation. TCU's November camp is much better because there are not as many kids. Not as many coaches attend their November camp. IMO you need to put your money on the skills camps that are held before and after Christmas at the different colleges. Your son will receive a ton of instruction with those college coaches. He will also get to personally know the coaches. If you are wanting to go to TCU, you will have a better chance of getting noticed at their November or Christmas camps just because of the fewer numbers.

Players might want to attend the camp with more coaches, rather than the camp with fewer players. The good players will stand out.
