I have been looking at some of the player profiles from Perfect Game showcases. All of the kids look like their dog just died (including my kid). I'm told that they are doing their best to look serious about baseball. If I were a coach, I think I would want to find the kids that look like they enjoy playing cause they will be the ones that work at it.

Should I tell my kid to smile?

Coach V,
I agree with you. The camera is not your opponent, and there's no reason to try and intimidate the photog. There probably aren't a lot of players that get rattled by an opponent's picture, and I'm sure there aren't any coaches/scouts that really give a hoot about a player's facial expression until they see them on the field.
It's just an age thing, too cool to be caught smiling. Smile

I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger and bigger, and then it hit me.
