I have a sophmore who was invited to a PG Underclass Showcase. Should he go or wait for a National Showcase when he is older? What's the difference of the two showcases and when is the right time to attend one of these?

bbdad47,
If your son received an invite from PG.
It mean's he was noticed somewhere.
It would not be a bad thing to go to the local showcase before you tackle the national showcase.
Get your feet wet?
But like the pro's on this site.
Be in good baseball shape when you do attend.

Also welcome to the HSBBW.

theEH,

what do you mean when you say be in good baseball shape when you attend? My son also
received an invite, he is a pitcher and has
thrown very little for the last 2 months. We
are knew to all of this so your reply would
be appreciated.

Ty21,
Welcome to the HSBBW.
Anytime you go to a showcase, You want to show your best right?
So be in good baseball shape.
But also you want to get your feet wet.
To see how you stack up against the other player's.

How soon do you go to the showcase?
They know it's the off season and may take that into consideration.
But you want to be in the best shape possible.

good luck. EH

If you attend a showcase it means that you are going to perform. If you want to be noticed as a potential prospect it would be advisable to be prepared to perform at the best of your ability. No provision will be made for "well...he probably has not thrown for a couple weeks...or, he probably swings aluminum better".
Players will show up at these events fully prepared and fully tuned up. You want to be sure that your skills are fully tuned up also. You don't want to recieve a showcase ranking when you are not able to show your best.
That I believe is what EH means when he indicates that you need to be in Baseball Shape.IMHO
