What is normally the format for a pro tryout? I realize there is the 60 time, inf/outfield, catcher pop time. Do batters take BP or hit from live pitching? Thanks.

You may see live pitching and/or BP. I think it really depends on the scout or the organization setting up the tryout.

My son has attended two. In both cases the scout or someone representing the team threw BP. In both the order was:

60 time
OF throw
IF throw
C pop time
BP

In one the pitchers threw last. I think in the other pitchers threw at the same time as BP.

My son has attended two, one Expo's and the other was the Red's. The Expo's used an Atek pitching machine for BP setup in front of the mound. The Red's scout used the pitchers in the tryout to live pitch to the batters.

The only other difference was that the Expo's had the OF throw from RF to 3B, while the Red's had the OF throw from CF to home. Both had player's pair up for the 60 and had two stop watches. The stop watches began at "first movement" of the runners. Everything else was the same and as described above.
