Wally: I think one of the PG ID camps in or around Indy would be a good investment at this point. It will let you start to see where you fit in, what you need to work on, and, if you do well, set you up for some of the bigger events going forward.

Wally..... My son is also an 06, and last year we thought that it was a good start by doing what "OldVaman" suggested, participating in a MLB team evaluation camp. The Chicago White Sox have what they call Prospect Evaluation Games. You would sign-up for an evaluation camp were they hold a mini try-out (60 yd. dash, fielding, hitting, pitching, pop times - all dependent upon what your position you play). The cost this year to sign-up is $30.00, and will be held at different locations and on different dates, Lewis Univ.-June 14th, College of DuPage-June 15th, Northern Illinois Univ.-June 16th, St. Viator-June 22nd, St.Xavier-June 23rd, Illinois State Univ.-June 24th, Valpo Univ.-June 29th. After that, they will select approximately 300 players to play in August at the Village Green Field Complex in Glen Ellyn near College of DuPage. The cost for this I believe is an additional $125.00. You'll play about 4, 7 inning games. The White Sox phone number is 630-324-8221. This is a good way to get your "feet wet." BUT, since Perfect Game has established their ID Showcases, you can't go wrong there either. Also, if there is a particular college that you are interested in, attend one of their camps. It's a great way to participate in a quality environment at a potential school. The camp format is very similar to a regular type showcase.

What exactly is an ID showcase and how does it differ from a regular PG showcase? I see some are indoor and at facilities i know are too small to hit a fly ball in or run a 60? Help
