Frank,

What high school does Nelson play at and has he ever pitched? Also Interesting comparison on the high to low.

Andy
Are the best and worst from the same event or are you comparing apples with oranges here?

Since the poster said Nelson was back in 98. The answer should be quite apparent. In addition looking at the stats would also make the answer quite obvious to anyone familiar with showcases.

TR, I thought you are involved in showcase events and would have been among the last to ask this question.

Did you honestly not know the answer or were you just trying to push an agenda or stir something up?

Anyone can post numbers and stats---to make them relevant there needs to be a relationship---what is the relationship here-- do they come from the same events or are the numbers just pulled out of the air from different events at different times

I have no agenda--too darn old for that-- I leave that to you younger guys

If you dont like my approach so be it--I only asked ANDY for a clarification so the numbers can be truly compared---1998 is quite different from 2007 would you not agree?

The best tools came from PG nationals or world showcase. PG had a program listing their best tools from all their showcases dating back to 1997.

Some of the worst tools came from ID showcases and a few other HS showcases. A few of them likley are no longer in business or should be.

good thing ol' Art played in the 60's. Had he played 30 years later, his 21 homerun season would have caused speculation of roid use. It was the statistical equivalent of Brady Anderson's 50 homerun season.

I've seen a lot worse than that in HS. Some of these showcases have 12-13 year old brothers or coaches' kids who sneak in. We had a JV pitcher who topped out around 58.

I have a story about how much you can get (or not) get from numbers sometimes...

Our son went to a showcase last summer with his grandfather. He had a terrible (9.0 plus)on the 60 yard dash and was rubbing his hip. We took him to the doctor the next day and had it x-rayed. Not good news. He had a several month rehab. We talked about contacting the showcase and having them pull his running stat off, but decided oh, well..he was only going into 10th grade..no big deal.

Fast forward to this spring. We are playing in a tourament. He comes up to bat and the other team's players start yelling to each other "he's the one that's slow". He was thinking, "what"? That's okay because after the first hit, they realize he isn't nearly that slow.No more yelling about how slow he is from the players or their coach.

Obviously, the team had read his stats from that showcase. Oops...
