Are there any academic showcases (such as the Headfirst camp) in the Midwest. My family can't afford to spend $800 for me to attend a showcase in Virginia.

Check out top96.com. I know they have academic showcases in the East, and that they have showcases in the Midwest, just don't know if they have the academic ones out there. But there website will tell you that.

Also, just look at the top96 site for showcases in your area and see if there are the type of schools attending that you are interested in. There may be several good academic schools there even if it is not called and academic showcase. For example, I see there are some strong academic schools attending the Illinois summer showcase. Of course, this could be the case for other company's showcases as well, so see what else may be around. I'm just more familiar with Top96 as we are registered to go to one of their showcases.
