deemax - This hit me like a ton of bricks. I just saw him a few weeks ago at a Stanford game...we briefly chatted. Your father was a WONDERFUL man who loved his children and grandchildren VERY much. Every time I talked with him over the past several years...he ALWAYS spoke of his family and the happiness you all brought to him. Every single time! I am so very, very sorry. Please accept my condolences to you and your entire family. He and you are in my prayers.

deemax - my deepest, deepest sympathies... He was our biggest star here on the hsbbweb. I read every post he ever made and always checked daily to see whether he posted or not. I am shocked and deeply saddened by this news. This place will never be the same A great baseball man has passed.

deemax, My deepest sympathies are extended to your entire family. Doug was so proud of his family and loved each of you so very much. His feelings for his grandchildren were wonderful could readily be seen when he changed his Avatar to their pictures. I met Doug through the HSBBW. He was so kind to me and provided so much encouragement and advice to help our son. I will never forget his PM to me when I questioned the likelihood of a DIII getting scouted and drafted. Despite Julie's earlier request, I just could never delete that first set of PM's with your Dad. It brings a tear to my eye to go back and read them now. I loved seeing and speaking with your Dad when he was scouting at Stanford. There is an emptiness knowing bbscout won't be posting on the HSBBW. We all benefited tremendously everytime he did. I am so very, very sorry to read this about your Dad.

I am in total shock. I too had to read the thread to make sure what I was reading was right. Your father will be missed, really missed. You should be very proud of him, he touched a lot of live here on the HSBBW. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
Go Everyone!
