USA Baseball's 16u edition rolled to yet another rule-shortened victory, this time over Mexico in the semi's, to advance to Sunday's gold medal game!

And here's the tournament's big surprise: the opponent will NOT be Cuba!

Venezuela beat Cuba 8-7 in the other semifinal. USA beat Venezuela earlier in tourney pool play, 14-0, on a 7-inning no hitter by Ryan Weber. Weber hasn't pitched since and could get the call again on Sunday!

As for the dreaded Cuban team, they dropped three games in the tournament, including the one matchup against Team USA. What happened? Did someone start checking their birth records more closely?
