I agree, you know it (a competitor's spirit) when you see it. There was a Supreme Court Justice who said that once in another context.

I also agree you cannot talk it - or your talent for that matter, into existence. Talk is the cheapest commodity in baseball. If you have it, someone will notice and nothing else need be said.
