You have accelerators (muscles) and deccelerators. strengthen one without the other and you get hurt. Slow movements make slow muscles. hope that made sense.

BH - Are you saying to do quick reps? I've heard ball players should go light on the upper body and heavier on the legs.

That's false. You need to lift the amount where you can do about 6 reps as explosively as possible. So that would be anywhere between 40%-60% of your max. Isolation does not do much for baseball. It's more important to do compound lifts such as cleans, deadlifts, split jerks, etc.

when you go to the weightroom for offseason conditioning, you could do forward wrist curls, and reverse wrist curls.
i do these excercises 3 sets of 20 while adding 2.5 weights to the bar evrytime.
it takes a while to get use to and when you do it it will strengthen your wrists and help kill the heck out of the ball.

There is a Strength & Conditioning forum that might also be able to provide additional insight.

No, at least 75% if you were to do anywhere around 6 reps. anything lower than that you wouldn't be building anything. You would just be toning your muscles out.
