is an 11.5 inch glove too small for shortstop?

I don't think so. When my son played SS a coach recommended that he use an 11.5.

I agree with Bizazz. For a middle infielder, the smaller the better [to a point of course]. The smaller glove means less leather for the ball to get "stuck" in when turning double plays.
