Saw the movie last nite, and it's a great reminder of why athletes continue to play thier sport. First time I've heard an audience applaud since "JAWS". Thumbs up!

Another good reveiw. I haven't seen the movie yet but watched the game on "classics" and still got a "rush" when it was over. A great game that picked us up as a nation during some very turbulant times. I think few people realize what it did on the politcal front.

Herb Brooks' daughter was interviewed on a local (Minnesota) radio station last Friday. She said Kurt Russell did an excellent job playing her father. In fact, she said he did such an excellent job she actually believed he was her father.

She also said the woman who played her mother wasn't able to pull it off as effectively, but overall thought the movie was outstanding.

As you may or may not know... Herb Brooks is thought of very highly in our state.

Our whole family went to see the movie yesterday. It was terrific. Funny....I remember sitting in the study lounge in college watching this game....with how intense and exciting the film was, you'd think I hadn't lived through the events and knew the outcome! The theatre broke out in applause when the US beat the USSR. The best part, for me, was the quote at the end of the movie by the coach lamenting how professionals participating in the Olympics on so-called "dream teams" have diminished the true aspect and meaning of the Olympics. The REAL "dream-team" was this U.S. hockey team made-up of a bunch of college kids who worked their tails off and put their hearts and souls into proudly representing the U.S.

agree pros have no place in the games!

I actually think it's brought down the quality!

I'm with you on THAT one! I have zero interest in watching any Olympic event that features pro players. What a joke! Mad

Is this heaven?...

I took my two boys to see the movie. When we left they looked at me with tears in their eyes and said that was awesome. I later asked them what they learned from the movie. My oldest son a Jr said "When the coach said The name on the front of that jersey means a hell of alot more than the one on the back" thats what a team is all about dad. I think all kids should see this movie. Very good movie.

Applause at Jaws, I hope you mean when they killed the shark they cheered.

I did hear the crowd cheer during Juriasac Park, when the T-Rex ate the lawyer

My team saw it together this past Saturday night. I was in Chicago with my family and told my dad they were all seeing it, and he said we had to go at some point on Saturday. Boy am I glad he wanted me to go with him. As an American history major I learned a lot about the time and what that team did for the country. As an athlete I learned a lot about the word TEAM and digging deep. I think that the best part of the movie was when the 4 players refused to get on the bus after a game. Those who've seen it know the the scene, and i don't want to ruin it for those who haven't. But they decide to get on the bus after they tell coach Brooks that it's more than a team, it's a family. That scene shows this teams unselfishness and ability to work as one. They cared about each other as people, as players.

I really think that any team should go see this film together as soon as possible. After talking with the guys today about the movie, I have a good feeling that our practice tonight is going to be very good, and our season will have a whole new outlook, thanks to this film. It's definitely a story that we need everyone to know and learn from.
