The 17U Don Mattingly WS was held in Albuquerque this past week. Did anybody go? Impressions? Thoughts?

My team, the Arizona Storm, was a participant. We did not win, but we finished in the final five (out of 16) and had a great time. I tip my cap to Chuck Sheldon, who organized the event, and to his entire team of volunteers. Albuquerque, too, is a great city and New Mexico a great state. Lots of outstanding competition with top-level teams from, among others, New York, New Jersey, California, Washington and, of course, New Mexico, home to the winning team, the Ravens.

Thanks for the kind words about New Mexico jemaz. I'll forward them to Chuck. The Rio Grande Ravens are a high school team, and thus weren't expected to do much. Coach Griego deserves a lot of credit too.
Glad to see that the city's premier facility, Isotopes Park, held up well as the championship venue. Too bad the local press didn't see fit to cover it, but as a new event here I would expect that to improve if it returns as planned next year. With the CMWS happening in Farmington in consecutive weeks, New Mexico becomes a great baseball destination in late July/early August.
