Here is a terrific and fun ESPN article on Beckett and the friendship he has made with Zach Fregosi, a catcher who recently graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio. Great stuff about the World Series MVP and his evolving relationships with college players at the DIII level.

Nice story. I met Zach earlier this year and was very impressed as to what a nice young man he was. Great manners, well spoken - what everyone hopes their kid will grow up to be.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True.

All this was happening practically in my backyard and I had no idea. Cool story!

Perhaps Krak Jr. will get to meet him this year!

My son had told me about Burkett coming to school. When I saw the story, I asked if he was one of the guys that went to the basketball game? He said that he didn't go because he had an exam the next day and needed to study (it paid off because he did well on the exam).

When I listened to the video with the piece, it was nice to hear Josh acknowledge that these were bright kids that took care of their classroom obligations.

A nice story that puts life as a baseball player into the proper prospective for all us parents with kids in college.

Yeah, T's pretty psyched about possibly getting to meet Beckett, maybe getting a few pointers. Good stuff!
