Do pro scouts, and let's go ahead and add college scouts, go out and watch HS Fall teams? Especially if a player on that team is ranked in the top 100 in the nation. (As ranked by BA/PP)

Speaking for MD and Northern Virginia, college scouts flock to the weekend fall ball games. Mostly tournaments though. Better chance to see more players. As for pro scouts, I wouldn't bet as many, if any, would be in attendance. They are mostly burned out from the January - September grind...but I'm sure their are exceptions.

In the North Carolina area, the two pro scouts I know have just got back in town (this week) from traveling around the NC, VA, SC, GA areas watching college fall scrimmages and workouts and a very few select 18&U showcase tournaments. They said the last month had been a terribly busy time for them. The showcases that my sons 18&U Fall 18&U showcase team has played in have had a few college scouts, sometimes maybe only one - sometimes 4-6, at about every showcase. Ususally they are fairly selective with their time, watching the better (usually only the 18U or a select 17U team) teams and games.

Here in the Northeast where we have been at a number of events in the region we have had upwards of 20 to 25 college coaches at each event

This coming weekend we will be playing at Lehigh Univerisry and expect the same

As noted above the events are HS games but either tournaments or showcases where the coaches can see a boatload of players in one weekend

In our area I have seen scouts at a few games in which our Fall HS team was playing. While they were usually there to watch one particular player they asked for rosters and personal data (i.e. height weight, birth dates and grade in school) from both teams.

Tasmit,
Understand that Lexington, KY is the home of a lot of pro scouts so that may increase the scout activity in the fall. We were in that situation you describe a few years back. My son was ranked about 140 with BA at that time and we saw very little scout activity in the fall. Of course baseball was very low key at that time of year. I don’t think we even had a schedule. BUT. . . the first day of spring practice I think there were 12 scouts at the first practice and it never stopped. You will go from wishing the scouts would come. . . to. . . wishing they would go away. (not really) BE PREPARED!

Fungo, I knew that maybe one or two would live in Lexington due to the Astros farm team Legends are there, but I didn't know that more may.

Anyway, I was just wondering because my son is playing football and not Fall ball this year. The Fall team went to Lexington for a "showcase" tournament and were short a couple of players and the coach asked him if he would come fill in the spot and told him that a few scouts would be there. He went but we didn't see any scouts. I know what to look for and I didn't see any. But I guess that doesn't mean that any were not there since we played the last two games of the night.
