My son wants to write letters to area colleges regarding playing ball. What should he put in the inital letter to the coach and should his high school coach send one along with his or wait and do one seperately.

You'll also want to create a player profile to go with the intro letter (or use the ones some colleges have on their baseball sites). If the school is local, also include your HS baseball schedule. If you will be attending any showcases or tournaments, you can mention these in the intro letter. Follow the guidelines found on the Recruiting Timeline for "to do's" for each year of high school.
