I have lived in Kansas for the last 5 years and have yet to see a yellow brick road. Perhaps you are the entitled one TR with your concrete and asphalt.
Here, we have mostly plain ol' dirt, and lots of it.
Good American midwest prairie lands which help feed our nation and are harvested by some of the hardest working folk I have ever met. I happen to live on a military installation located in this great state.
People here believe in helping their neighbor and offering a helping hand, unconditionally. They'll even offer honey with their home made biscuits as they pull you out of a ditch, plow along side ya, or head off to war. They smile too. As far as I am concerned, that isn't a bad thing.
I welcome you TR to come visit my real world here in Kansas. I can introduce you to many people, both young & old, who dont expect to get anything without earning it first. Those types of people DO exist. I am perhaps entitled myself, as I am honored to live amoungst them for a short while and call them my neighbors.
The Wizard of Oz movie, imho is a classic. Some may not appreciate your attempt to trivialize it, although you are certainly welcome to your own opinion and I am sure you will continue to do as you see fit.
Biscuit?

Where I live and where I came from there are no Yellow Brick Roads--it is all asphalt and concrete
Perhaps if we all stop with the PC nonsense the kids and parents would cease thinking they are entitled to everything---there is no entitlement
where you lived really has nothing to do with any of this- it is not resposnible for one(you) not reading the post above the one you responded to and realizing that 2 folks probably were there at 9Pm but were not in the right place as they hadnt used the chat room before.
It is not resposnible for you not responding to PM for a week
In the big scheme of things, I eally think this is minor stuff and will not be responding any further.
With all the folks in my area hospital that can use a hand during this time of year, i would rather spend my energy in a better way.
i wouls suggest we all give it a thought also
Happy holidays
By the way, I was raised in the Bronx

Good thing to remember that many folks here have not been into the chat room. Good suggestion is to put up two explorers, one for chat and one to watch the board for inquiries.
Forget the potholes in the road and celebrate the journey instead...anonymous

Those are great ideas. On another site on which I am a moderator, they do that.
They also have a pop up window at sign- on whenever you have a PM.

There is a big difference between "PC Nonsense" and common courtesy towards one another. I try to offer a smile and hello to anyone I pass on the street, not to be patting backs or paving anything yellow but just a kind attitude toward a fellow human being. TR is right-there is no entitlement. Life is hard- that's why a genuine smile and kind word go a long way.

There is a notification that tells you have a pm here, either by a little pop up that says message or at the top. Maybe a good idea would be to begin a new topic, for new posters on how to manuever through this site.

Hey,
Trying to get better. I checked in for 15 weeks, for the experts to figure out what's going on. Many people in my life to completely check out. I do recommend the FL Mayo Clinic for diagnosis.
This site sure has changed

Guys, I just caught on that this string had moved to being about me an another member not being able to figure out how to use the chat room. I'll admit to it taking me a while to figure things out. Nothing anyone says about that bothers me because I learned something and won't make the same mistake again.
There is a natural consequence to every action and in this case the natural consequence of me not knowing what to do was that I missed out on what could have been some very useful advice. I regret that, but complaining about it is a little like complaining about gravity.
I happened to check in on this string because I saw that Bear was the last poster. He has been very gracious in providing information to help my son evaluate schools. I sincerely hope that he is recovering from his health problems.

Ditto- 3rd gens sentiments- a person's health is a lot more important than this trivial matter in the big scheme of things! Hello again 3rd gen!
Get well Bear!
