we lost our first game of the season. DUMB loss. had the game but simple routine plays we did not take care of. anyways, one of our pitching coaches quit today but he was cocky and it was probably the best thing for the team, but anyways my coach talked to us today after practice and wanted to ask us if we wanted to go out and eat pizza or something before EVERY home/away game. he said we dont have to talk about baseball, just have a good time, relax, and just its a good chance for us to be around each other and become a closer team. what other stuff do anybody suggest for my team to start winning ball games or just what strategies should i take and discuss with my coach to become a closer team. we have a TON of talent but i just dont know why we dont use it.. but should we get together as a team before every game? i think its a good idea.

I'm always looking for baseball tips! Feel free to IM me on aim.

Lw2ndbase30,

Sorry about your first loss for the season. Sometimes it takes a little while to jell together as a team. Your coach is trying to create some team chemistry by going to pizza or hanging out.take the mistakes you had in the game and work on them in practice. I always like to see the team at the begining of the season to the end and how much better you become by working hard as a team and learning to get a sense of the other players abilities and instincts. It takes time since you consider on varsity at least half your team is turning over every year. One thing I know for my son is dont bring the last game in to the next game mentally if there was a loss. Let it go and work on being beter and making less mistakes. good luck

Losing a game does not make you a bunch of lousy guys. And winning a game does not make you a bunch of "great kids"... Do your best at everything you can and enjoy each day put before you...
I think "team time" is awesome, but I think a positive attitude about all your endeavors is better. You sound like a positive guy; I like that; you had a coach quit on you guys but you and your other coaches are looking for positives.... It sounds like you've got a good direction .... Best wishes!!!!
