MN-Mom, wouldn't it be useful to know how many people are in chat, without having to launch chat to find out. What I was thinking was having a label and field in the header section of the message boards. Something like "Number of members chatting 8." Or 2, or 12 or whatever. Whenever you want to know you just look/scroll up to see if someone is chatting. It beats the heck out of going in to chat and you are the only one there. Should be pretty easy to do also. Just and idea.

That's a good idea, and I will see what I can do. I took a look at the settings in our forums software to see if I could add this but didn't find it yet, so I'll ask the forum support folks.

The only thing I would say is that sometimes it takes 15 minutes or so before you get more than a couple people in there. If it keeps saying "1 (or 2) members chatting" will the crowd that usually shows up stay away waiting for 5 or more?
I hope not because once it gets rolling, its fun and hard to get a word in edgewise.

Hey Julie - What are the chances of getting a chat room for the ladies lounge? I enjoy the one we have now, but I think more moms would chat if they had their own. Just an idea.

Hey, you've all been busy "chatting" about these chat questions!
I have not been able to find a way to list the number chatting outside of the chat room, but justbaseball's post makes sense, so maybe that's okay ...
So far the system only allows us to have the one chat room, but I like the idea of any mom feeling free to announce a "Pink Room Chat" or Ladies' Night - any gentlemen trying to enter the chat room would have to wear a skirt, or at least bring flowers for every female present???
o44, I don't think I can help you much with the lurking either, but ... if you enter a chat, say Hi when you first arrive, and then don't say anything more ... you really can just sit there silently and ... ahem, observe if you wish!

MN-MOM: I am having trouble getting in the chat room. I have the latest and greatest java. Maybe I am doing something wrong. Has anybody else shared this with you. Maybe I missed this in another post. Thanks

Just watchout for "treehuger".
OB, Come in any night, you don't have to chat, but I am willing to bet you will join in. Baseball is not always the topic.
The one thing that greatly bothers me is regular posters logging in and pretending to be soemone else.
Some of the regulars fool around a bit, with OPP and Justbaseball coming in with silly names but they always identify themselves (can't miss OPP).

I posted this in the PM thread, but thought I would post it here too, in case anyone else has the same question:
If you have downloaded the latest Java update, there is a good chance that something has changed in your browser security settings. Below are a couple of threads where I discussed possible fixes for Chat / Java problems. I wonder if you could check these out, see if any of these seem to help you, and then let me know.
