We are in McAlister… Here are a few scores from today.

Tennessee 16 Mississippi 11
Texas 7 California 6 in 12 innings
Mississippi 8 Canada 3
Texas 9 Missouri 0 Paul Demny 1 hitter
Oklahoma Gold 5 California 3
Missouri 7 Georgia 6

Those are the only games we saw.

There are several players here who are among the most talented in the country and who will be at the PG National at U of Arkansas this weekend.

I hope people reading this understand that this Team O is not a representative of Ontario. It is an Elite team that incorporated the name Team Ontario Inc. which is their proper name. The team that represented Ontario is called The Ontario Youth Team since the powers that be took the Name. A long story but the Team O Inc has lost most of their good players as predicted when players discovered they were Team O in name only. This team has some good players and coaches but they are not the best. I don't like misrepresentation.

I thought that the teams at the Sunbelt Classic were selected by their respective state high school coaches' associations. Is the Ontario team not selected by the high school coaches association for the province?

About 5 years ago the team coaches who were Team Ontario coaches had a falling out with thye Ontario Baseball Assoc. The coaches incorporated the name as Team Ontario Inc. The OBA was suffering from declining enrolment and wanted to make changes to the team format but the coaches would not go along and separated. When they represented the province they held open tryout at about 15 locations all over the province culminating in a final invitation only tryout. It had most of the best players in Ontario at that time. When they separated they still had a lot of the best players but as time went on and people saw it no longer was truely the provincial rep team their caliber of players dropped dramatically especially in the last 2 years. Today they only hold 2 tryouts and are at the 11the spot out of 10 teams in the 18U PBLO. They are an Elite team but had to ammalgamate with the Hamiton Astros to field a team. The 17U team is better than the 18U team and are in 6th place.
Fan they are self appointed reps and do not hold a candle to the OBJ18 and Canadian Thunderbirds who are at the top of the PBLO.
In 04 the Ontario Blue Jays 18U beat several US college teams such as Connor State (OK) and others.
I personally was very dissapointed that this decline took place and that people think that Team O Inc is a rep of the province. I see their players fund raise saying they are Team O and leave the impression that they are the rep team. Even the scouts are starting to figure it out. It took them a while. By the way I respect a lot of thye co0aches but this coup backfired.

That's a shame. I thought the Sunbelt Classic teams were all picked by the state High School Coaches Associations. I know that several of them are. That's part of what makes the Sunbelt Classic special. The teams truly are "rep" teams. Perhaps the tournament organizers ought to make that a condition.

Our HS are not as involved as the US HS. We don't consider HS that important. Some of the HS teams aroung Toronto are very good but our ball evolves around Elite and Ontario Baseball Assoc. When the Elite teams came on the scene the OBA declined as players wanted more competition and better coaching.
Fortunately thyings are righting themselves and all Elite players can tryout for the OYT reping the Provinc. Last year was the 1st time we had a strong OYT because of these changes. All3 OYTs won at their various levels, the Canada Cup. The British Columbia teams are usually the strongest but OYTs beat them simply because we have the largest number of great ball players in Canada. BC is a great rival.
TO Inc has declined because now all the Elite players from all the Elite teams can tryout for OYT relagating the TO Inc to just another Elite team. This new cooperation between the OBA and the Elite teams has been a saviour for Ontario baseball.
You wouldn't believe that dissaray our baseball was in. No one could agree on anything. OBA sat back and watched the Elite teams steal all their top players. If you played for an Elite team most AAA teams would not allow you to play for them. We were lucky our city allowed you to play on both.

Fan he played for The Candian ThunderBirds and the Niagara Rebels. At 15 he made Team Ontario but we had alread signed with The Welland Renagades. That was the 2nd to last year that they represented the Province. He now plays for Charleston Southern U going into his soph year.

TO INc concentrats on the Junior team. This is the year they showcase their players. Their better players tend to get scholarships to good schools. They still have a lot of great contacts but they will have trouble getting the great players now.
We used to go to all the tryputs of several teams and then pick the one we wanted to play for. We got away with it for a few years but they started to figure it out.
The T-Birds had the best tryouts. They held 15 all over Ontario like the TO used to. There were sometimes 200 ball players at each tryout. Usually there were 10-15 scouts in attendance. I really enjoyed those tryouts in the fall. You got to see the best players in the province and it was inexpensive baseball until you had to sign.
