Sty...So far this is a short list of STATE CHAMPIONS. But that's ok, because you only need ONE, OSWEGO. Yes, OSWEGO. Not only are they 7A STATE CHAMPS in Football but they could have what it takes to be CHAMPS in BASEBALL to.

KENNY JOE HRENANDEZ might be gone BUT OSWEGO has 2 other Catchers that are pretty good. Pitching is not a problem. They have good speed on offence and defence. They are going to have alot of the same chemistry as their football team. Besides, EVERYONE knows 1 guy does'nt make a "TEAM". duel

jerny...You have 28 posts and all of them are about Oswego.

Oswego might be a nice town, but many people in Illinois have likely not heard about the town, much less about their high school and the sports program.

Sounds like you are making the same mistake may people from little towns make, i.e., because you have some success playing smaller schools, you think the sun rises and sets on your programs.

Get out from the "boonies" and beat the big boys and then you can talk.

Jerny - Take it easy with all the Oswego hoopla-yes football team was outstanding and has been solid for 20 yrs. Appreciate your enthusiasm but how can you say a team that lost 14 games while playing in an average at best conference last season is a favorite for state.
You lost a d1 catcher and I'm sure some others-does football success carry over to baseball only-it must skip a season because panther hoops not doing so well. While you have some credibility left allow what happens on the field to speak for itself. It has been established that Jernstad the pitcher is a player-now take some time to broaden your horizons and realize talent does exist outside of the 2 teams he plays for. By the way, I'm saw Oswego last year as my son's team beat them with their #3 pitcher (a sophomore who had an off year) That team returns 3 excellent pitchers and a handful of good hitters and is nowhere near deep enough to content for state title.

Kenny, I agree. Jerny is not in the class as Pernier, nor is Oswego baseball. Though he has done a nice job of self promotion, and actually he is a very good football player, and baseball player,it will be a great match up. Oswego baseball wouldnt carry Lyons, Lockport, Sandburg, New Trier, even Wilmingtons gym bag.

OK lets see here, last summer Oswego played Minooka and the Great ALMIGHTY PERINAR pitched or tried to pitch against Oswego a game Jernstad didnt even pitch. And I dont think Perinar got out of the second inning because i believe that anyone who gives up 8 runs in 2 innings should stay in. So If you think perinar is great then he must not be that great because as you guys say Oswego isnt that good. So if he cant beat a bad team then where does that leave him. OSWEGO IS GOOD. SO what if we lost JOE HERNANDEZ thats one person and we have another great catcher and the defense is gonna be one of the top defenses around. Im sorry that we cant recruit other baseball players because we arent a private school. Thats why you always here about all of them doing so good is because they dont have the talent in their own town to do anything.

jerny

To be considered a great pitcher, as Perniar is and should be, you do not need to throw a shut out every game you pitch in. To have one or two bad games I'd say is quite respectible. Not to mention the 40 MPH winds blowing straight out. If I'm not mistaken, your pitchers let up 18 runs. No one ever said Oswego was a TERRIBLE team like you make it sound. My bet still is on Perinar over Jernstadt, as Kenny said. And Gary is a top notch pitcher, which would explain him getting a scholarship to a Top 25 school in the nation.

Where is Jernstadt going to college by the way, I haven't heard anything.

Most of these posts are from public school kids or parents. Some of us played baseball in college, there was one kid (going back to 1973), he was a all state baseball, football player, and played on a eite 8 team for basketball. He told everyone how good he was too. He quit sports in college,he found out he WASNT as good as he thought he was. We all want good kids to succeed, its the other ones that go away, and are never heard of again. Jerny, you stil have alot to prove on the ballfield and in life. Listen to "Glory Days" by Bruce Springsteen. Dont let that happen to you

What happened?

He was supposed to be the next Luis Aparacio as a freshman when he played next to the kid that is now at Western Illinois, Nick Simmons (?).

Or...is that a good move for him?

Can anyone for the Porters give us a rundown of the probable starting line up. I'm sure it is no secret. I'm hearing DJ is like batting 6th or 7th, that kid could lead off for most teams around the state.

Thanks!
