Has anyone here attended this camp? If so, what did you think of it? Did you find it to be helpful or mostly just a means for scouting?

BTW--I am a newbie here. I have been reading quite a bit on this web site and I am a little overwhelmed with all the information but trying to absorb as much as I can.

The camp has three sessions, each 1 1/2 days long. Very intense. About 90 kids in each session. Excellent instruction by Mizzou coaches and players. Great facility. A little weak in the scouting department. Expect 5-10 college scouts to be there and a few who work with pro teams.

i am debating on whether to take my junior to it.took my college junior to it back when he was in hs.i was not impressed.put on for the one's they were recruiting some of us parents thought.total cost around 350 counting motel and eats.i am thinking a pg showcase would be a lot better.the people that post in texas are pretty wise to some of these college showcases.who knows what to do sometimes? look at the cmsu camp it is better for teaching is what i have been told.

My older son (age 15) is going. I am hoping it will at least help us to "size him up" against his peers so that we have a more realistic idea of what his college prospects are. Of course, I think he is the greatest, but I realize I may be a bit biased. : )!

There is a hitting and pitching camp at CMSU in January. My son wants to go to it too. It is a lot cheaper, but only 1/2 day.

My 15 year old went to the first session. There were a lot of kids there, probably in the 100 range. He had a good time, thought it was worth the money (of course, it wasn't HIS money!!). He was glad to have some specific catching coaching, which he has had very little of so far. He also had never been timed/evaluated before so it was a nice opportunity to see where he compares with the statistics.

It is a real personal challenge for him to be the best at whatever it is he does, so it was also motivating for him to see catchers that were better than him.

However, after I sing the praises of this camp, remember that this was our first camp adventure and I have nothing to compare it to.

mom.....

You made a good choice. My son went last year as a junior. Great people at Mizzou!!! It's a good way of "getting your feet wet"!
