Cherney...isnt that the same kid that was mentioned for top catcher...hmmm he must be pretty good, too bad he goes to school by me, if he dint maybe people would know who he is. Ask Norwood parents about him, they all seemed impressed, and since i was 12 I have always been impressed. I hear hes playing 3rd in college so on the poll for top #3B put him to...he also was PR's closer...so maybe he can be in the top closer poll...he is just a great athlete and he can help your team anywhere that you play him.

Anna would be ahead of Tim McInerny of OPRF who is also an excellent 2Bmn. Churny can play all over but he is one fine catcher and one fine hitter.

mark bennet i think best pro position is at 2b.great athleticism that can play ss very well and eventually will have a big league arm to complement that position.chris rodriguez can be a great 2b at the major d1 and of course pro level as well with continue hard work that he is doing. a 3.9 dn the line and in my total confident beleif that he is the best leadoff guy in the state.

05's my beleif is maugeri but there are great ss now out there now that best pro position is at second but i am not saying becuase that something i would want to break to them in private.

Neither Bennett or Chris is a pro prospect at this time. And, Chris does not and has not run a 3.9 from the right side of the plate anywhere except in your dreams! Chris is a terrific kid and fine player and I understand that he put up some huge numbers for Marion Catholic in football, too. Next thing I'll hear is that he's a 3.9 in the 40 for football!

BTIL, I too forgot Maugeri. He and Anna have the baseball background and experiece that McInerny lacks. McInerny might be a bit more of an athlete.

play...I would say being invited to play and playing at the USA Tournament of Stars in Joplin, MIssouri, on a team that had Michael Taylor in right and Ryan in center and then at 3rd base with over 100 scouts in attendance is not exactly "not playing". Billy Killian from Michigan was the catcher and he played on the USA Junior National team. He faced 4 of the top pitchers in the nation and did fine.

For your information, he has been invited back this summer to try again.

I would say that experience is more significant and important for him developmentally than playing against the Michigan Woodchucks and the Indiana Nobodies.

For your information, I have known Chris Rodriguez since he's been 12. He played with the UDC team for several years and he played a few games with us, locally, in 2002.

Playhard...Our friendship remains intact. You give me a "shot" and I give you a "shot". So what? No big deal. We just disagree on talent levels in the area. Will prove out, one way or the other, in June and beyond.

I saw Top Tier play a couple of games. Perinar was it that afternoon/night.

Lombard, Top Tier, Norwood, Gravel and UDC all have fine programs.

Check their rosters and then check the rosters of the teams that were at the Tournament of Stars...including a ton of 1st and 2nd round draft choices who hadn't signed, including the kid from Massachsetts.

Just another opinion from somebody who knows (or at least thinks he knows)...Chris Rodriguez is the best 2b and lead-off man in Illinois. Period! He had problems when he was briefly moved to ss last season, but will be back at 2b this season. He would be drafted somewhere in the top 5 rounds if it wasn't for football being his #1 choice. Football affected his committment to baseball and, because of this,it has turned alot of scouts and d1 schools off.Too bad, the kid had a bright baseball future! As far as 3.9 h to f, believe it because it has happened, however, the question will always be at what point the stopwatch was started. Standing without a bat in his hands and the clock starts on "go", he can do it!

As far as '05 2b ...Maugeri. 'Nough said!

Talent...do you know Playhard? Seems you two are the only ones big on Rodriquez. So who is looking at him for football? who is looking at him for baseball? any offers on the table? Granted I saw this kid play "once" but he was not impressive at all. A buddy of mine told me that he barely made all-conference last year. I think Marian Cath is in the ESCC, there are a couple good baseball programs in that confernece, but nothing like the top conferences that have been mentioned on these boards. If he is not a shoe in in the ESCC, how does that make him Top 5 rounds?

Talent...How do view a prospects size or lack of it as a position player?

play, I have seen Brett Maugeri play several times over the years and he is certainly a player. I like everything about him, but his size will scare a lot of people.
