Iowa Western is a fairly steady participant in the Juco World Series. In fact, they're playing in it right now. They finished 3rd in the Juco World Series in 2005 and have been regional champs the past 5 years. They are fairly considtently ranked among the top 10-20 Juco's in the nation. They have a good track record for developing their players and helping them get to the next level.

Iowa Western has a young coaching staff. The head coach is Marc Rardin who is a very competitive, knowledgable and fair young coach. I know because he used to play for me. He has taken over a strong national level program and even improved it over the past few years.

Iowa Western CC is located in Council Bluffs, Iowa just across the river from Rosenblatt stadium in Omaha where the NCAA DI World Series is played.

Good coaching, highly competitive, good schedule, good location. Sorry don't know much about the academics there.

I know that coach rardin used to coach the Madison Mallards in the Northwoods league, so my guess is that they have a lot of great contacts in the summer leagues as well. Sometimes its all about who ya know.

I also know that this year they had players from 13 or 14 states, so they are hitting the recruting trails hard.

Go IWCC Rievers!! (A Riever is a river pirate)

My son attended a showcase there this past weekend. Campus was very nice with many new looking facilities including the baseball and softball complex. The showcase was very well run and everyone seemed genuinely nice.

The weather was cloudy and cool about 60° with a slight wind. They had players selling shirts and hats and needless to say the long sleeve tee shirts were really selling well.

I thought it was a nicely run showcase. Not too big, not to small. Just right.

Coach Rardin is a great dude. Coaches the game the right way and develops kids to get on to four year schools. I dealt with him alot when I was at state and actually was recruiting a couple of his kids. Does a real good job
