Many of you dont know what has happened to me this past year. I am a senior at Fergus Falls High School, in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. Last fall I broke both bones in my left leg in a football game. It wasnt just any broken leg. I had muscle compartment syndrome, which is swelling of the leg. This happened because of the titanium rod they placed in my bone. The swelling didnt go down for about 2 weeks and I needed skin grafting done. I had a total of 6 major surgeries. I was able to start my rehabilitaion in mid-January. I worked my butt off just to play the game I truely love. Our teams first game rolled around, and I got the call to start. I struck out 12 batters, and allowed 1 hit, and one unearned run. We won the game 8-1. The reason I am writing is this is because I know there are a lot of atheletes out there that never come back from major injuries. I want to let you know that if you put your heart and your pride to test, you can accomplish anything.

p.s. My doctors examined my leg and said I wasnt able to play any sports for couple years. Guess I showed them!

Congratulations on your recovery! I was in a similar situation last summer. Playing in a 7 on 7 league a teammate collided with me and I tore my ACL completely, MCL partially, and medial meniscus. Fortunately for me, we had surgery done right away and I managed to step on the basketball floor not quite 4 months later as the lone senior on the team. I thought it was pretty cool to hear another story that I can relate to. Good luck the rest of your season!

P.S. I won my first start this year too, struck out 15 and gave up one earned run.
