Anyone else going to Cary NC for the 14U NTIS in Sept?

Son is playing on the USA Stars team. Just wondering who else might be going.

At least Cary NC is closer than Jupiter FL was last year. Maybe we can skip the rain this year.

Doughnutman and lodi14,
You are talking about the regional identification series, right? (One team from each regional series goes to the NTIS)

The NTIS is Sept 17-20 in Cary NC.

Hope to see you there.

EC Dad. You are correct. Trying out with about 150 kids from 8 other teams in a showcase type tournament. It began, for us,in a tournament and an invite only tryout in AZ. From all of those kids they picked 16 to represent team AZ in the Mountain west NTIS. The AZ kids will be at a great advantage since it should be around the 90's.

It will feel like spring to us.

Piece of cake. Big Grin

Now that the teams are all set, who is making the treck over this next week? It will be a great time, I believe.

Son is on the USA Stars Red Team.

I assume this is going to be played at the US Olympic Complex in Cary , correct? Is so it is an abslolutely awesome facility. They have a main field that is located right as you pull in. Then three fields located behind that one. The fields are maintained to ML specs and are asbsolutely beautiful. Its a great area with several nice motels and eating establishments close by. The only difference in the "Stadium" field and the other three are the grand stands. The weather is awesome this time of year as well. Lower humidity and temps during the day in the low 80's and at night low 70's to high 60's.

There are three malls close by one in Cary , one in Durham and one in Raleigh. Good luck I hope you enjoy the experience.

I wish everyone the best of luck in NC. It sounds like a great time. Dough Jr will not be making the trip. Those that go, please let us know how it went.

Coach May,
Yes this is being held at the USA Baseball National Training Facility.

Are there any cages or parks close by? I will need to take the boy to do some hitting and fielding to get loose.

(Don't make it sound too good, Soutpaw_Mom is having to stay behind with our Competitive Cheerleading Daughter. She is already not happy she is missing it.)

You will take a left into the complex and see the parking lot. If you pass that entrance and take the very next left you will see a softball , baseball complex. There are several batting cages with L screens located throughout this complex. This complex is located right behind the USA complex.

The other complex is Thomas Brooks Park. We were there recently and the town of Cary had blocked the drive Coach May is talking about. Sometimes Cary will do that. You will be able to find the main entrance to it - just on down the road.

Good luck guys!

EC Dad-

My 13 yo son is on that team too! Too bad he plays football and broke his hand on Saturday! We are seeing the ortho dr. tomorrow and hopefully he can do something (wishful thinking, I know). My 15 yo is on the 16U red team as well. Our family has had a string of bad luck, hoping this will go a little better.

Thanks for the info Coach May and 55mom. They are using the Thomas Brooks Park for the 13U division but hopefully I can find a cage or open space to get him some warm-ups.

Are there any other parks around in case these fields are full?

BBfam,
I hate to hear about your son's hand. Timing is bad for this event, but is good for his healing before next spring. Hopefully we will run into you over there.
