In last nights game, my son struck out 13 batters against our town rivals, with O walks and 1 hit in 5 innings!!! As a 7th grader pitching against 8th and 9th graders, we are very proud. We all thought he was gonna get that perfect game he's been after. He told me after the game that he knew he was gonna make it to college. Now Im walking on air. Life is good!! How's the season going for the rest of you? Thanks for letting me brag a little.

That's awesome Rapidfire...tell your son congrats from me. That's a great accomplishment.
Just a question, how many miles did you pace while he was pitching! (lol) Smile

I have not seen my son play this year because my High School schedule conflicts so much with his. I hope to catch one or two games before the season is over for them. But anyway my son and his best friend combined for a no no on opening day both went three innings. My son struck out 8 of the 9 guys he faced with one reaching on an error. His buddy struck out 9 of 9 for a total of 17 of 18 batters faced struck out. The guy that reached was picked off. So far they are 4-0 and having alot of fun.

Coach May,

After reading your posts, I don't doubt your son will do well in baseball. You are intelligent, baseball-smart and well grounded. Your son sounds like the type of kid I would love to coach.

Coach May,

Congrats on your son, sounds like he is keeping good company. How is your HS team doing? I also will be spread thin this year, stepping down to start teeball again with my 5yo, and coaching the 13yo's after school ball is over. Should make for an interesting summer!

Sandman,
Tim is about 5'5", 140lbs, bats right, throws right. Not as big as some of the kids, but not as small as others. He throws 67-70, not overpowering. He calls himself a location pitcher. His best pitch is his "make you look stupid change up" as it has been called. He has been devolping a curveball in the off season, its comming along nicely. But I told him if I see more than 3 or 4 a game Im charging the mound!! Now if I can just get him hitting the ball.

Thanks and good luck!
Rob

Redbird thank you for the compliment I really appreciate what you said. You know it is tough to not be there when he plays. Over the last two years he has played Middle School ball I have seen 2 games. Sometimes I feel a little guilty about it but he always makes me feel better when I apoligize to him. He tells me dad dont worry you will see all my High School games. One thing it has done though is make him realize that he doesn't need me to be there. He plays the game because he loves it. He comes home and tells me about the games and we have something to talk about. It actually is alot of fun to hear him describe the game inning by inning. Redbird after reading your posts I wish my son could play for you.

Coach May,

I know you may not feel this way but it is probably good for him to play without you there. It allows him to grow a little more and takes some pressure off him. Also, he can be himself rather than "Lil Coach May". Sometimes the distance is good. Plus, after the game, I am sure you guys talk about it. It will help him analyze his game and remember the pitches that got him out.

Congratulations on a great pitching performance. I noticed you are from OK. I hope your son continues with this kind of success(unless our team faces yours Wink

Very nice! Congratulations! Do you have any clips that you can post? I love watching them (even if they aren't mine!). Smile

Coach May

I have to split time between my sons games but I have video of them to watch if I can't be there live. It makes for some great viewing when I get home from the other game. Do you have anyone that could tape your son on the mound to view later?

Congrats on a great performance! Isn't it great watching our kids live their dream. What sort of pitch counts, and types of pitches does they have him throwing? Don't let them over use him at a young age. What team will he be on in the summer, and can you suggest any good Oklahoma tournaments to visit?
Best of continued luck!

T-Ball
He threw 66 pitches this outing. Usually under 75. So far his Jr.H coach has done a great job taking care of his arm. I have no complaints!! He will be on the Purcell Dragons, playing in Norman this summer. As far as good tournys go, I think there is alot of competition at the usssa world qualifiers in Norman, OKC and Tulsa.
Where are you at in TX? What team does your son play for?
Good Luck
Rob

Good number of pitches.
We are in the Dallas area. Last year played/coached a team called the Apaches. This year we have taken the team and joined the newly formed McKinney Marshals organization. Enjoy the new organization a lot!
Thanks for the info on tournaments. We need to go up there. Good baseball, and big kids in Oklahoma!
