To the best of my knowledge (Thats not much).
The HS my son will hopefully be playing for next spring does not have a summer program.
I have given serious consideration to starting a Summer Travel Team for this school district but do not want to have the HS coaches take offence.
How much should I get them involved if I choose to go ahead with the Team?

If they don't have a summer team there is probably a reason and it may be that they don't want to fool with it. Believe it or not some coaches would rather be doing other things, like playing golf. During the summer the kids are free to do what they want and are not obligated to any school functions. If you want a summer team for this situation that you're in, then "Just Do It!". You have every right to do what is best for your son.

Whoever wants to know the heart and mind of America had better learn baseball, the rules and realities of the game—and do it by watching first some high-school or small-town teams.

Why not talk to the coach? Askk him what kind of thinsg he would like you to teach. I know many coaches have a specific style of play. It would give your players a leg up on HS baseball if they heard a consistent message from school ball to summer ball.

Call the coach and set up an appointment--maybe even treat him to dinner-- sit and talk about what you would like to do to assits the development of the HS players--you might find that he is pleased to have your help in the form of HS travel team.

If you want to chat about it and how to form the team etc feel free to call me --- I can tell you how we run our program--it might give you some ideas
