We're exploring our options for tourneys and the various WS/Nationals. So far I've come up with the following list:

    AABC
    AAYBA
    AAU
    Barrett-Fletcher
    BCS / Perfect Game
    CABA
    NABF
    Sandlott
    Super Series
    Triple Crown
    USSSA
    WWBA / Perfect Game

Obviously under each one there are potentially several different WS/Nationals but am I missing any of the organizations? For what it's worth, we're basically a USSSA team so I'm looking for WS/Nationals we could play in.

We have lots of great memories from the AAU Nationals as well as the WWBA/PG national events.

Can't really speak for the others.

I'm hoping we go to the WWBA/PG event. It's earlier so we could go to another event as well. We've never done an AAU event but have received the bid if we decide to go.

What team does your son play for? USSSA Elite 24 in my opinion is the best tournament. 13U AAU is in Myrtle Beach, but its 60/90. Triple Crown in Colorado would be fun. NABF in Southhaven is a great tournament and a great facility. I think we are playing in the NABF and will try to get back to the Elite 24 again.

His team is the Jackson Jayhawks 14u but we're not quite an Elite 24 level team....not enough pitching. It would be a great experience I'm sure but it tends to conflict with football but who knows.

So since I doubt we'll even try the Elite 24 route, I'm looking for alternatives besides those I've listed already.

We qualified for the Elite 24 for 13's (and 15's, working on 14's in a couple weeks)and figuring out AAU or PG-BCS for July. All of my other teams will go to either a BCS or WWBA event but AAU in Myrtle Beach fits well for us and the BCS in Ft. Myers would mean two weeks on the road with 13's. Our 13's also will attend Battle of the South in May in Tennessee.

The PG events are outstanding as a rule. AAU used to be the king but everything is so convoluted. CABA can be hit and miss. I think you need to figure out why you are playing in a national event. Is it for fun. Is it for exposure. Is it for competition. Is it to win. Lots of variables. Go with associations that have solid track records.

Do you have a son on the Nor Cal team? Which one was he? We played you at the Elite 24 and my son's good friend played on that team with you. Who is this new team from California (Rakers). We will also be at the Battle of the South, however, we may need to try and qualify for the Elite 24 in Birmingham that weekend.

At this point, I'm simply making a list of our options to see what our goals might be and to then which tourneys to attend as part of that goal. As I mentioned previously, we're not of the Elite 24 caliber so we'd be shooting for something more along the lines of USSSA Majors or AAU Div 2.

If it was up to me, I'd probably do the WWBA/PG event end of June then USSSA Majors (GA) or NABF (OH) the end of July. If we do USSSA Maj that puts us in Atlanta twice which isn't necessarily bad but our parents may squak a bit.

In the past we've done CABA and USSSA world series events but I'm just seeing what our other options may be out there.

Mikeau- I started the program way back when in 1992. You must be talking about Matt G. Great kid! The Rakers are a group of kids from all over Socal run by Eddie Williams from Las Vegas (good guy). His son Trey played with us at the Elite last year. We have lots of new kids on our 13's. I think we have upgraded well.

Hi Beezer,
My son's 14U team is scheduled for two USSSA Elite 24 qualifiers this spring. If they don't qualify, the team will play in the AAU Nationals in Sarasota, FL.

Does anyone have feedback on the USABF (United States Amateur Baseball Federation) events in San Diego ?

http://www.usabf.com/

This is for a 13U team, July & Dec events. Does this attract top teams from Southern California?

Thanks!

What happened to our all-star team?
We are playing the Super NIT Qualifier here in Kingsport, TN, the USSSA WS in Atlanta and maybe the 15U AAU WS in Kingsport. Another good tournament is the WS in Knoxville USYBA. A lot of TN teams but it is good competition and you get a lot of games on good fields. Hope to see you somewhere this summer. I know it has probably filled up but the Best of the South or Best of the Best in Rockdale is a great tourny with very good talent.
Keep in touch.

We are going ot the Triple Crown in Myrtle, (hopefully) must qualify. We were going to go to AAU 54 x 80 in Detroit but only 1 team shows committed to date.
Anyone been to a Triple Crown event?

Son has played in a few local Triple Crown events. Those don't seem any different than any of our other local events. Each area is an indpendent contractor so local events can vary greatly. We have been to the Triple Crown World Series at Steamboat in 2004 and went to the Omaha event last summer. Had a great time at both. Can't comment on Myrtle Beach but from our experience the fields are flung far and wide. They have a central area where they post scores and pitching innings. We don't have USSSA, Super Series etc in our area so I can't compare those.
