Anybody have a player that uses the Worth Prodigy? Looking at the 2008 28/18, haven't see one up close only on the web.

Also considering the Easton Stealth BST35 (last years model).

My son used it last season. He had the 29/19. His opinion and mine differ.
He loves that bat. It makes a very distinctive pinging sound and draws a lot of attention when he really gets a hold of one. His teammates nick named it the liberty bell.

I think it is too thin. It has actually gone out of round. Not a true flat spot but if you roll it in your hand you can feel a slight deviation. I can't get him to stop using it. I bought him a Catalyst and he won't use it. The paint chipped off almost immediately as well.


...but I have to admit, as ugly as that thing looks, and considering the "damage" to it, he does seem to hit better shots with it than the Catalyst.

It does. Really appreciate your time and opinion. We went to the store to check one out up close today, and compare side by side to Stealth. Gotta have a -10 and I thought she might like the 2 3/4" barrel but the Stealth felt better. Cheaper too since last year's model is still available.

We have several of them in different sizes for 2 older sons. They all chip paint but they will all smack the ball. I also think they like the sound. Makes a real high pitched sound when the ball and bat connect hard. Check out e-bay. You can get some good deals on last years.

I bought 2 Worth Prodigy's last year - had to return them both for denting. Worth replaced them no problem and even admitted that they had a problem with that model. They have ultra thin walls which don't hold up. But, I have heard that they changed the materials to make the walls harder this year. I haven't tried the new "blue" Prodigy yet. Anyone try the 2008 version?

Any experiences with the 07 or 08 DeMarini Vexxum DXVXR -10 Senior League model?

Coach-My son loves the Vexxum. He has had 5 now. He just got a new -3 (to be used in a game for the first time Sat.). All the other Vexxum's he has LOVED!!!

This post is a little late, sorry. My son has been hitting with a 29-19 TPX Catalyst, big barrel for a year now (he turned 8 in August) and while it took him a couple months for his little chicken wing arms to be able to swing the bat fast, he started crushing the ball. He then used a friend's Prodigy on occasion and loved it, and the only ball he's ever hit over the fence was with it. We broke down and got him the Prodigy a few weeks ago, also 29-19. It dented the first use, we sent it back and got a new one. The new one also slighty dented the first use. Now, these dents aren't big, but the bat is definately rippled. A friend of ours who has the same problems talked to Prodigy, and they were told that the end cap on the bat doesn't seal like it should, so the air pressure releases, that's why the bats dent. The new model should be out in May.

Comparing the Catalyst and Prodigy, the Catalyst is shaped like a club and it is very end heavy, where the Prodigy's "fat" spot is longer, it tapers all the way to the handle. The Prodigy's weight seems much more evenly distributed, so my son swings faster, and the ball does have more pop. Plus, he likes the "ping" sound, compared to the silent Catalyst.

My 8yr old loves his Prodigy 28/18. The ball jumps off this bat. Several kids got them last Summer and all are dented from use, my kid could wait to "dent" his. But they keep using them and will eventually send them back for a new one - keep those receipts. One kid's bat got almost triangluar shaped last Fall from denting and him practicing so much with it - pretty funny looking.

Bottomline:
Durability (1-10) its a .5
Pop (1-10) its a 10

Depends on what you are looking for.

I bought the 2008 model a couple weeks ago. It came in and my son took it to practice that night. Coach threw BP to the kids and the next day I pick it up to find three dents in the bat. Every where there was a ball mark there was a dent. Submitted a return request online to Worth today. I wish they would\could correct the denting issue without affecting the pop of the bat. Man, the ball jumps off that bat!

Are sure it's the 2008? We were under the belief that it wasn't going to be out until May. My son's 1 1/2 month old 29/19 currently has flat spots, and it's being hit by an 8 year old. We are (were?) hoping the new model was better.

BattersChoice.com has marked the Prodigy down on close out to $109.95. Kinda seems a little early in the year to be discontinuing a model. I'll bet they've had too many returns and want to get that model off the market.

Yup, my bad. The new model is out, and it is nice looking. Our friend has used it now for a few BP's and my son borrowed it,too...no dents! Yippee!! Our 2 month old now sounds dead, the ping isn't there. I have my return authorization # from Worth, and need to send it back.

Got our Prodigy back from Worth last weekend. They sent us a 2009 model. Son used it at lessons on Monday. No dents so far. I told him game use only from now on until we learn to trust it. He can use his old '07 for BP.

My son's teammate has had no problems so far with his new Prodigy. We are keeping the square one until either fall or it shatters. We just can't go without his main bat for 2-3 weeks during the season. At least he's still hitting hard with it. Between a game Saturday and BP Sunday, he hit 2 over and 5 withing a foot of going over.

Well, we had to break down and send back the square Prodigy. Let's hope the new one comes sooner than the 2-3 weeks they say, the first All-Star tourney is in 3 weeks.
